Women are often overlooked for promotions,
talked over in meetings,
or expected to organise the birthday cards.
But let’s be honest -
men face bias too, just a different kind.
Ever seen a man get side-eyed for asking for flexible working?
Or told to “man up” if he shares he’s overwhelmed?
Men are often pushed into leadership or technical roles-
whether they want them or not, while their caring side gets ignored.
Yet, we scream for emotionally intelligent male leaders.
Bias doesn’t always shout.
It whispers in the roles we’re nudged into,
the feedback we receive,
the jokes that go unchecked.
It decides who our leaders see as “natural” for the next step,
who gets to feel comfortable,
and who has to work twice as hard to fit in.
The result?
No one wins. Women get boxed in. Men get boxed out.
And workplaces miss out on real talent.
Fixing this starts with leaders willing to see both sides.
Not just calling out sexism against women, but spotting how men are cornered by old stereotypes too.
True gender equity is about everyone having a fair shot, no matter which box someone tries to put you in.
So, when I say gender equity, do you you still only hear "women's rights"?
FYI, I'm running a FREE 60min workshop on 14th Aug at 11:00 to demonstrate how I undercover hidden HR risks that can lead to gender equity risks.
