• Cashflow Forecasting Tips

If you want to get a handle on your business cashflow, one of the best things you can do is forecast it. This will give you a clear picture of when money is coming in and going out, and help you avoid any nasty surprises.

There are loads of different ways to forecast cashflow, but one of our favourites is the percentage of sales method. With this method, you estimate what percentage of your sales will be received as cash each month. For example, if you sell £10,000 worth of goods in a month, and your average payment terms are 30 days, you would expect to receive £3,333 in cash that month.

Once you've estimated your monthly cash inflows, you need to take into account any outgoing payments you have to make, like rent, salaries, and suppliers. This will give you your monthly cash outflow.

To get a better idea of your future cashflow, you can use a cash flow forecast template. This will help you map out your expected inflows and outflows for the coming months and give you a clearer picture of your financial situation.
